Note to self… Even though it feels like Spring weather in New York, booties over bike shoes is still necessary. #toesarefrozen

Ironman champ: Train your brain, then your body →
In the words of the great Muhammad Ali: “Success is not achieved by winning all the time. Real success comes when we rise after we fall. Some mountains are higher than others. Some roads steeper than the next. There are hardships and setbacks but you cannot let them stop you. Even on the steepest road you must not turn back”.

Cancer has been a big part of my life.  My grandfather passed away 11 years ago from the disease, and my dad was diagnosed in December 2010.  Thankfully, with early detection and surgery, I can say that my dad is cancer free. I try my best each year to contribute to cancer research.  I’ve been a part of Team in Training for the past few seasons, as well as donated to Livestrong and other...

The Truth About Treadmills
Interesting article about running on treadmills from competitor.com… P.S. I hate running on treadmills ______  Have you ever heard that running on a flat treadmill is like running downhill? Here’s why: When we’re airborne in midstride, neither foot is in contact with the treadmill—no problem there. But as soon as the leading foot makes contact, the backward motion of the treadmill grabs...

Pearl Izumi Tri Team
At first glance, it might not seem like a ‘powerhouse’ team (compared to a Trek KSwiss team, for example), but these guys are young accomplished triathletes in their own right - Jesse Thomas winning Wildflower last year, Angela Naeth just winning 70.3 Panama. Read more about them here. “Triathletes are willing to pay a grand for wheels that they think will make them that much...

Lance Armstrong just finished SECOND place in Ironman 70.3 Panama with a time of 3:50:55 - 42 seconds behind the winner. I was certainly looking forward to seeing how Lance would perform, but did NOT expect this kind of performace.  He got off the bike in second and had the race lead until 1K to go on the run.  What a gutsy performance early in the tri season.  Can’t wait to see how he does...

Why I became a triathlete →
Each person has their own story on why they started triathlon.  Here is the story of Roni Selig, the senior executive producer and director of CNN’s Medical Unit.  Her journey to becoming a triathlete sparked the idea for Dr. Sanjay Gupta’s Fit Nation Tri Challenge. source: cnn.com

Nike Fuel
So, this guy came out today (limited quantities available today starting at 5PM EST at nikestore.com). It’s a digital wristband that tracks one’s activity throughout the day.  From reading about it, you can set a goal of how active you want to be.  The LED lights move from red to yellow to green depending on how closer you are to your goal.  Not really sure what NikeFuel is supposed...

20/20/20 Day
I’m incorporating more circuits in my workouts.  Last year, I barely lifted weights (once upon a time, I was a stocky 180lb guy.  My sister used to make fun of me and ask where my neck was.  But I digress…) Today was a short, but explosive workout… 3x20/20/20 (2 minute rest interval) 20 Reps of Bench Press 20 Reps of Squats 20 Reps of Clean and Press But wait, I...
